Dancing is what we make of falling
curated by Samuele Piazza & Valentina Lacinio

Binario 2
OGR - Officine Grandi Riparazioni

In Dancing is what we make of falling, week after week, different videos inhabit the same screen.
The works of artists from different generations and backgrounds create a multilayered narration.
Six evening events (+1), one every week, articulate the exhibition, presenting new works thanks to the collaboration of researchers, artists and collaborators. Each events aims to create a shared place for discussion transforming the show into a space of gathering and critical debate.

In a world of growing social and economical inequalities, where phisycal and metaphorical walls against the Other are constantly being built, where violent “expulsions” and coming backs of ferocious racism dominate the political and social scene, the work of artists is more and more fundamental in its creation of a new imagery.

The title of the show is taken from a line by Fred Moten, the american poet and researcher, and it describes what, in time of crisis, art is asked to do: making a dance out of a fall. By questioning conventions and looking at contemporary world from a peripheric as well as a privileged position, art is looking at ways in which subjectivities are created in a neoliberal world, offering alternative perspectives and questioning present day certainties.

Every week will see the making of a podcast and a fanzine, created in collaboration with Kabul Magazine, with the translation of an essay, never published in Italian before, offering some research material in relation to the projected videos.
As part of the programme, on September 30th, OGR will host minor matter by dancer and coreographer Ligia Lewis.
A series of artists (Enrico Boccioletti, Dafne Boggeri, Benni Bosetto, Drifters, Ramona Ponzini & Rpm Watts) will realize interventions specifically conceived for the space, while a series of curators and researchers (Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti, Ilenia Caleo, Irene Dionisio and Nicoletta Vallorani) will participate in the evening events.
As part of the programme, the second Ball organized by Matteo Mizrahi and Zell Revlon will be housed inside Binario 2 on September 21st.

Free entry.
All events are free, with mandatory reservation.
The exhibition ends on 19th October 2018.
