OGR YOU Special – Slam Poetry

Slam Poetry will be the protagonist of the first OGR YOU SPECIAL evening(Monday 25th March, from 8.30 pm to 11.00 pm, Duomo), directed at the teen audience and organized by the members of the OGR YOU (Young Adults) project. The participants - selected through an Open Call (www.ogrtorino.it/updates/open-call-ogr-you-special) - challenge each other by improvising poems at the microphone, for a maximum of 3 minutes each. The theme is: "At the margins".

The evening opens at 8.30 pm with an electronic soundscape created for the occasion by Matteo Abrate, one of the 15 members of the 2019 OGR YOU Club.
At 9 pm the Slam Poetry session starts, introduced and coordinated by the writer Gabriele Magro, who participated in the first edition of the project. At the end of each round, the public is invited to vote for the most successful poems.
At 10.30, it is the turn of a sound poetry performance: VIBRATO IN GOLA, EXPLOSED IN THE MOUTH by poet, vocalist and singer Jonida Prifti (born in 1982 in Albania, in Italy since 2001) who interprets in a new, live version her poem "Rivestrane".

The OGR YOU SPECIAL evenings anticipate the year-end festival THE BIG BREAK, organized by the boys and girls of the Club, which will be held in December 2019.

Thanks to Atti Impuri Poetry Slam for the collaboration.

Started in 2018, the OGR YOU Club & Talks project(http://www.ogrtorino.it/education/ogr-you), curated by Barbara Casavecchia in collaboration with Sergey Kantsedal, is focused on young adulthood. The objective is to trigger new mechanisms for involving young audiences, by bringing them in touch with protagonists of the Italian and international art scene. The theme for the 2019 edition is: MOVE IT! Words, images, space, rhythms.
