OGR You presents Francesco Fonassi with “Festa del Grido II” (Scream Party II)
OGR You starts again! The title for the 2019 edition is: “MOVE IT! Words, images, space, rhythms”. Sound is the focus of this first conference – held on Tuesday 26 February, 6.30 pm, Duomo – by Italian artist, sonic researcher and musician Francesco Fonassi (Brescia, 1986), active in the field of live media, transmission art, and experimental music.

Francesco’s lecture/performance, Festa del Grido II (Scream Party II), originates in his reflections on the writings of experimental musician e sound artist Max Neuhaus (1939-2009), according to whom ‘Our perception of space depends as much on what we hear as on what we see.’

This is how the artist describes it: "One of the practices that often emerge in my work is that of the ‘transmission in proximity’, i.e. a mode by which I transmit in various ways (FM-short waves), receive and amplify signals within a short range. Sources and categories of localization, concealed by particular field measurements, are offered to the audience without being frozen in finite forms. Instead, they become environmental phenomena. Together with the participants, I will elaborate strategies for the transmission in proximity of latent signals – listening and actions can be transformed into analytic tools and dialogues, mediated or directly voiced by the Sala Duomo."

Fonassi’s work - developed through actions, recordings, environmental configurations, radio transmissions, listening sessions, live performances and the creation of audiovisuals and sensory spaces – has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at Palais de Tokyo, Paris; MAXXI, MACRO, Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome; Viafarini DOCVA, CareOf, Milan; Mambo, Bologna; The Emily Harvey Foundation, New York; Färgfabriken, Stockholm; CSMVS Museum, Mumbai.

He presented his interventions in festivals and independent spaces, such as Clark House Initiative, Mumbai; BB15, Linz; Blockhaus DY10, Nantes; DKSG Galerija e Remont Gallery, Belgrade; A Certain Lack Of Coherence, Porto; Glassbox, Paris; Spazio O', Milan; Sarajevo Winter Festival, Sarajevo; Bjcem, Skopje; Q16_Quadriennale, Rome; Helicotrema Festival, Centrale FIES, Dro.
